FCCLA at the 2010 Collin County Youth Show

On Thursday, January 7, 2010 ten members of the Farmersville High School chapter of FCCLA traveled to Myers Park & Event Center in McKinney, TX to compete in the Collin County Youth Show. Each competitor brought a baked item that they had made to enter in the show.

The day began with many questions as extreme cold and rain had moved into North Texas overnight. Would we have school? Would we still be able to go to the Collin County Youth Show?School was not cancelled; however, there was a delayed start time of 10 am. We jumped on the bus and headed to McKinney as quickly as we could. Judging was scheduled to begin at 10, but because we had let them know what had happened and that we were still coming they graciously allowed us to participate.

While the food judging took place the FCCLA members tried to stay warm by visiting the animal barns, watching the day's competitions in the show ring and eating lunch. Lunch was obtained at the FFA concession stand.

At 2:00pm the FCCLA members returned to the Creative Arts building to learn how they had done.

Kaitlyn Beckham's Chocolate Chocolate Chip cookies won a third place ribbon.
Dalton Hill's Peach Cobbler won a third place ribbon.

Kaylee Hill's Banana Nut Bread won a second place ribbon.
Ariana Patino's Potato Chip Cookies won a second place ribbon.
Stephanie Ray's Chocolate Chip Pie won a second place ribbon.

Jamie Davidson's Strawberry Bread won a first place ribbon.

Brandon Mill's Pecan Pie won a first place ribbon.

A great time was had by all. On the ride home some students were already talking about next year's contest.
